It all started when…
Many people ask me, “When did you start baking?” and the answer is, as soon as I could stand! Yup, that’s me, the little one in the photo above baking with my mom when I was about 2 years old.
My name is Kayla, I own & run Taste Buds Bakery in my home under the cottage law! I got licensed and started taking public orders right around the same time I started college at the University of Arizona. I recently graduated with an MIS degree at the Eller College of Management. Now I work full time, and public orders are currently closed because I just bought my first home and got engaged- so a lot going on at the moment! Luckily I’m not moving too far, just to Gladden Farms, I hope to reopen public orders next year (2025)
I’m a licensed home baker with a ServSafe Managers food handlers card and completely self-taught! I started teaching myself to decorate cakes in elementary school and began selling cupcakes to family friends in middle school, going by the name ‘Kayla’s Cakes’ back then. My dad helped me come up with the name Taste Buds Bakery when I was a student at Marana high school!
